Bahrain Attends International Ombudsman Conference

Wellington-Nov17 / 2012 (BNA)Bahrain attended The 10th International Ombudsman Institute World Conference in Wellington, New Zealand.

A total 150 Ombudsman general secretaries representing 85 countries attended the global event which opened on November 12 and concluded yesterday – November16.

The delegations discussed the political and social challenges facing such institutions in charge of addressing human rights issues and judicial and administrative procedures.

Bahrain's participation in the 10th IOI World Conference is part of preparations to open the Ombudsman general-secretariat, to be thus the first GCC country to take this initiative.

Interior Ministry Ombudsman secretary-general Nawaf Mohammed Al-Maawda and Ombudsman member Abdulrahman Ali Fares took part.
