The procedures that ensure the provision of privacy and confidentiality when filing
complaints.
The existence of an easily accessible special box for complaints in each suite.
5 – Mother and Child
A safe and comfortable environment is provided for mothers and children in their
custody in prison or detention facilities, while
providing the necessary care and upbringing for these children
Pregnant mothers receive health and psychological support by qualified and
appropriately trained employees
Indicators
Clean, comfortable and safe facilities are available for both mothers and children
in the place of destination.
There
are pillows,
mattresses, clothes and blankets,
and
all other accessories for mothers and their children. Accessories must be in
good condition, clean and in suitable quantities.
Care provided for mothers and their children is of the same standard as
the health care provided in the community outside.
Medical Review for pregnant prisoners or detainees, childcare and all measures
to protect them are in line with the health and social services provided in
the community outside.
Pregnant prisoners or detainees and mothers are separated from the
other prisoners or detainees and placed in rooms that meet their special
requirements.
Children inside the centres have the opportunity to experience the activities of
the society and are prepared to leave prison or detention facility by being
involved them in age-appropriate activities.
There are arrangements for a family setting whenever a child receives family
members and conditions are as normal as possible.
Care is provided for pregnant women at an early stage – since knowledge about
the pregnancy, or since the pregnant prisoner or detainee reaches the prison or
detention centre.
Pregnant prisoners or detainees must undergo initial medical examination, as
well as subsequent check-ups.
The upbringing of the child is under supervision and easy communication with
specialists on health or mental health problems or symptoms that may appear
on the child are ensured.
