9- Resettlement
Identify the requirements for the resettlement of prisoners or detainees before they are
released, to achieve the highest level of successful reintegration in society, taking into
account the type and seriousness of the crime committed by each prisoner or detainee.
Indicators
The resettlement plans should include all categories of prisoners or detainees,
including those who remand in custody and spend a short time
Prisoners or detainees have an opportunity to continue their education at various
levels.
Prisoners or detainees have the proper training that contributes to their reintegration
into society after their release
The management of the prison or detention facility and the concerned medical
authorities in the country cooperate to complete the treatment for prisoners or
detainees with critical and infectious or chronic diseases.
There is an extension of appropriate support and continued treatment to prisoners
or detainees who suffer from addiction problems after they are released to help
them recover fully
Prisoners or detainees are allowed to communicate with the outside world in
various ways.
Assistance is provided to prisoners or detainees to bring about visible positive
changes in their lifestyle, thinking and behaviour.
Appropriate programmes are granted to resettle prisoners or detainees who were
victims of abuse, rape or family violence.
