International Ombudsman Institute (IOI)

The Independent Ombudsman Office obtained membership of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI), which is one of the most prestigious international bodies in this field, after reviewing its membership by the executive committee of the Institute in September 2013, just two months after its official launch, and after making sure that it meets international standards in the field of the work of ombudsmen offices, especially with regard to the mechanisms of exercising its competencies.

Organization of Islamic Cooperation Ombudsman Association (OICOA)

The Independent Ombudsman Office participated in the first conference of ombudsmen in the OICA member states, which was held in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on April 28-29, 2014 as a result of that meeting, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Ombudsman Association (OICOA) was formed, and the Kingdom of Bahrain is one of the first countries to establish this association.

Chaillot Award

On the evening of December 9, 2014, the former ambassador of the European Union delegation in Riyadh awarded the "Chaillot Award" for the promotion of human rights in the Arab Gulf region for the year 2014 equally between the Independent Ombudsman Office and the National Institution for Human Rights.

The Chaillot Award is presented annually by the delegation of the European Union in Riyadh (responsible for relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Kuwait, the Sultanate of Oman and the State of Qatar), in cooperation with the delegation of the European Union in the United Arab Emirates and the embassies of the member states of the European Union to the Arab Gulf states, for civil society organizations and public and private institutions to take actions, campaigns and projects that support awareness of human rights, promote and protect them in the Arab Gulf region, the award holds the name of the Palais Chaillot in Paris, where the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted on 10 December 1948 by the General Assembly For the United Nations.
