Ombudsman receives US senate delegation

Ombudsman Nawaf Mohammed Al Ma'awda received here today a US Senate delegation, currently on a visit to Bahrain.

The ombudsman welcomed the delegation's visit, which comes within the international cooperation with foreign institutions and authorities interested in the development of human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

He briefed the delegation on the Office of the Ombudsman's tasks, work mechanism and the most important international cooperation and development activities to benefit from international expertise.

He informed them about the statistics revealed by the ombudsman office's two annual reports regarding the complaints of the citizens and prisoners' complaints.

Al Ma'awda affirmed the keenness of the ombudsman office on enhancing professionalism in its field and strengthening the human rights values of interior ministry's affiliates towards the citizens.

Ombudsman Deputy Secretary-General Osama Al Asfoor and Ghada Hameed were present.
