General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, received Ghada Hamid Habib, Secretary General of the Ombudsman Office. The meeting was attended by Shaikh Nasser bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior.
The Interior Minister commended the professional performance of the Ombudsman Office and its role in promoting reform, justice, the rule of law, and human rights principles.
He highlighted that human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain are an integral part of the authenticity of Bahraini society, its traditions and customs, and are a central element in all security work. He explained that developing programmes and initiatives that contribute to enhancing community security stems from the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, who established human rights and supervisory institutions and worked to enhance their role in consolidating the human rights system. He commended the ongoing support provided by the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to implement projects aimed at advancing the approach of building and social cohesion.
The Interior Minister pointed out that developing the mechanisms of supervisory authorities, enhancing the principles of transparency and accountability, and constructive engagement with oversight bodies, contributes to improving performance and the quality of services provided.
He received a copy of the annual report of the Ombudsman Office, directing the relevant directorates to respond promptly to the points raised in the report related to the work of the ministry, in line with the community partnership strategy.
On her part, the Secretary General expressed appreciation to the Interior Minister, noting that the cooperation shown by the ministry contributes to the success of the Ombudsman Office and the performance of its assigned tasks.
