Bahrain Ombudsman becomes IOI member

Manama, Dec. 14. 2013 (BNA) – The Ombudsman has joined the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) as a member, Deputy Secretary General of the Ombudsman Usamah Al-Asfoor announced.

IOI is among the most prestigious international bodies, with over 140 member ombudsman officers from all over the world.

He said IOI granted the Office of the Ombudsman the membership after it had reviewed its work last September and got assured that it met international standards regarding independence in assuming its duties, reinforced by Royal Decree 35 for 2013.

He asserted that the Ombudsman's membership of IOI would reflect positively on the kingdom's status at the international level, and enable the office to benefit from IOI's expertise and specialised training sessions.
