Ombudsman Forwards Medical Records of Deceased Detainee to National Health Regulatory Authority  

 

 Manama, Mar. 23. 2014 (BNA) -- The Ombudsman Office stated that it is continuing investigations into the circumstances of the death of a detainee (J.M.J) who passed away on Wednesday, 26 February 2014, at Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC).

 

 In the course of the investigation, the investigators have spoken with the family of the deceased, and obtained a copy of his medical records at Salmaniya Medical Complex and the Ministry of Interior Clinic where he was receiving treatment.

 

 The Office reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism in its investigations and has therefore forwarded the medical records obtained from its investigation to the National Health Regulatory Authority, an independent body, to review and give its opinion on quality and adequacy of the healthcare provided to the deceased.

 

 The Office will determine the course of its investigation based on the findings of the Authority.
