Ombudsman Organises Workshop in Cooperation with Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Prisons

Manama, April 30 /2013 (BNA) -- The Office of the Secretary of Ombudsman at the Interior Minister has organised a workshop for its new employees.

The workshop, in which some members of Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Prisons (HMI Prisons) lectured, focused on mechanisms of inspection of prisons and detention centres, and shed light on Britain's experience in this regard.

The aim of the event was to training the Office's personnel on ways of undertaking the inspection of reform and rehabilitation centres, in accordance with recommendation No. 1722 of the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI)'s report.

It is also part of the Office of the Ombudsman 's plans to enhance cooperation with prestigious international sides, including HMI Prisons, in order to be informed about the international professional standards.
