Ombudsman to Probe Detainee's Death

Ombudsman to probe detainee's death  

 Manama, Feb. 26.2014 (BNA) – The Secretariat-General of the Ombudsman said it had started investigating into the death of detainee Jaffar Mohammed Jaffar, who passed away today (Wednesday, February 26, 2014).

 

 It added that a team had visited the Detention Centre in the Dry Dock, and was informed about the statements of those concerned.

 

 It was also informed about the statement of a member of the family of the deceased at its premises.

 

 The Ombudsman also requested a copy of the medical report of the deceased from the Interior Ministry's clinic and another from the Salmaniya Medical Complex where he was hospitalised.

 

 It affirmed that it would continue probing the issue in order to determine its circumstances through contacting the relevant security and medical sides in order to study the level of medical care provided for the deceased and any other measures that might have been used to deal with his case.

 

 It said that the results of the investigation and the legal procedures that follow them would be announced once concluded.
