Ombudsman's Sec-Gen Receives UK Parliamentary Delegation  

Manama, 15/04/2014 (BNA) – Ombudsman Office's Secretary-General, Nawaf Mohammed Al-Maawda, today received UK Parliamentary delegation led by Lord Clive Soley.

 Ombudsman Office's Sec-Gen reviewed continuing cooperation between Ombudsman's Secretariat and Commission of the Rights of Prisoners and Detainees and relevant British institutions to benefit from their expertise in the same areas.

 

 The UK Parliamentary delegation was briefed on responsibilities of the Ombudsman's Secretariat and Commission of the Rights of Prisoners and Detainees that aim at promoting human rights and humane treatment, particularly with regard to monitoring the treatment of the inmates at the detention and reform centers.

 

 Ombudsman's Sec-Gen welcomed establishing cooperation and exchanging thought and ideas with relevant international institutions.

 

 The meeting was attended by a number of members of the Commission of the Rights of Prisoners and Detainees.
