Manama, June 2nd 2013 (BNA) –President of the National Foundation for Human Rights, Dr. Abdul Aziz Hassan Abel received today the Ombudsman at Ministry of Interior, Nawaf Mohammed Al Maawda at the headquarters of the National Foundation in Al-Seef District.
During the meeting, they discussed means to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the National Foundation for Human Rights and the General Secretariat for Complaints, where both sides agreed on the need to turn the cooperation into a memorandum of understanding to exchange experiences and knowledge.
Both sides also reviewed the efforts done by the National Foundation in the area of protecting and preserving human rights, and informing of its assigned role in the area of spreading the culture of human rights among citizens, and residents on Kingdom of Bahrain’s grounds.
Meanwhile, the President of the National Foundation for Human Rights briefed the Ombudsman on the work plan of the foundation, and the programmes and activities it will implement in the various areas, in addition to the human rights, social, political, cultural and educational duties.
For his part, the Ombudsman said that the establishment of an independent office for the Ombudsman at Ministry of Interior forms a great importance and reinforces the acceleration of work, and increases the terms of reference and the expansion of powers, asserting the readiness of the General Secretariat of Complaints to cooperate with the National Foundation for Human Rights in all areas.
The meeting was attended by the Head and members of the Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up Committee, and Secretary General of the National Foundation for Human Rights, Chancellor Dr. Ahmad Abdullah Farhan.
