Speaker receives Ombudsman

May 11 (BNA): Speaker of the Council of Representatives Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla reviewed with Ombudsman Nawaf Mohammed Al-Maawda cooperation between the parliamentary Human Rights Committee and the Ombudsman office in order to promote human rights.
The Speaker affirmed the Council of Representatives' keenness on developing laws pertaining to human rights and consolidating human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Al-Mulla asserted the Ombudsman's remarkable role in ensuring respect of human rights, consolidating justice and the rule of law which are the core of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's democratic development project.

He lauded teh decision by the Delegation of the European Union in Riyadh to grant the Chaillot Prize for the Promotion of Human Rights in the GCC in 2014 to Bahrain's National Institution for Human Rights and the Ombudsman for the Ministry of Interior, which affirms the kingdom's efforts in promoting and respecting human rights.
